It was a sunny day afternoon when my friends decided to have a kayak in one of the nicest places in the Philippines. Yes, we have fun and really enjoyed every minute of our adventure until something seriously happens to me. My shoulder got sprained until I can no longer move it. Our team decided to finish right away our kayaking and rush me into the hospital.

Yes! Kayaking is an interesting water activity that can really enjoy by most of the people. But we should also be aware that injuries may occur any time, any moment and anywhere. Having kayak requires lots of preparations. Not just being spiritually and mentally ready, but you should also be physically prepared and fit.  This article is intended to list down all the possible injuries that you may acquire during and after your kayak trip. So be sure to read this one.

1. Extreme Sunburn. This is the result if our skin is overexposed to the sun. The reflected radiations coming from water can totally increase the level of ultraviolet or UV that has a direct impact to kayakers.

2.  Dehydration. Kayaking was considered as extreme water sports that require more energy. With that, once you exerted lots of effort automatically you sweat more than you think. You lose a lot of fluid in your body that causes dehydration.

3. Your shoulder. Paddling requires our muscular force that’s why it is prone to injury. It could be a strain or a sprain.

4. Wrist. The reason why wrist problem occurs during your paddling is because of the repetitive motion during your trip.

5.  Drowning. It is very visible in every water based activity especially if you don’t have any life vest or you don’t even know how to swim.

In every extreme sport that you plan to do, make sure that safety is your top priority. Consider the different factors that might affect your kayak trip like the weather conditions and the equipment you’ll be using. Trust only the licensed and well-trained individuals when doing the sports
